Bird of Passage
Walled Garden
Glasgow
Collaboration w/ Gayle Meikle and Sarah Laing
Print Festival Scotland
August 2013
Bird of Passage was a collaborative research project for Print Festival Scotland at The Walled Garden, Glasgow. Rooted within the festival's theme of 'artist as explorer' we used The Walled Garden as a space for neutral exploration, displacing ourselves out with our practices' usual setting. In the garden, we created a temporary laboratory to gather, make, discuss and experiment with the medium of print, utilising the limited resources we brought with us, alongside those available to us at this off-grid site. In preparation for the residency, we took a variety of research trips that helped produce works, taking influence from such sources as Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth, to the use of Cairns throughout society.
